Privacy and how we use your details

AutoPlace is for drivers. We ask for the least we need, tell you who sees it, and never sell it. Last updated 11 October 2026.

What we collect

  • When you ask for a quote: your name, a phone number or email, your suburb, the job, and your car (rego or make, model and year) if you add it.
  • When you save a shop or a car: this is kept in your own browser on this site, not on our servers, until you sign in to AutoPlace Garage.
  • Visiting the site: we use fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when a page loads. We do not run advertising trackers on these pages.

Who sees it

Only the shops you ask for a quote, and AutoPlace. Shops that have not been asked never see your details. A shop sees your name and number only when you ask it for a quote or choose to book. We do not sell or share your details for marketing.

How long we keep it

Quote requests are kept for 12 months so you can find them again in AutoPlace Garage, then deleted. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email listings@autoplace.co.nz. If we cannot sort it out, you can complain to the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Messages

We only text or email you about the quote or booking you asked for. Marketing messages need your separate yes, and every one has a way to stop.

Reviews, corrections and listings

  • Listings come from each shop's own website and public records. We do not copy ratings, reviews or photos from Google or anywhere else.
  • Reviews will only come from drivers who used a shop through AutoPlace. When they open, we will publish every genuine review, good or bad, and no shop can pay to change or remove one.
  • Questions to a shop are checked by AutoPlace before they show. Your name is never shown.
  • Corrections: if something about a shop is wrong, or you own a shop and want your page changed or removed, email listings@autoplace.co.nz.
  • No paid ranking. Shops cannot pay to move up. Paid Featured spots are labelled and never change the order or any score.
